antiques, awesome stuff

Cullinan part 1.

July 26, 2010

My birthday was last week Monday and Shane and I went to Cullinan for a day trip. What a quaint little town. Unfortunately the only 2 proper antique stores in the place were closed. But we did find another store which was a whole house FULL of beautiful enamel ware, kitchenware, teasets, silverware, bell jars, doorknobs and old “junk” set up in a very orderly fashion in the back yard.

We must of spent like over an hour in this shop. Shane bought me a few things for my birthday – I got the awesome light shade below, it’s pretty big and a super cool shape. And I got the beautiful sailing boat jug and glass set and some old school bell jars and some pastel enamel mixing bowls for my future bakes and finally the very unusual, but very cool rabbit enamel plate below. Someone must of been on something awesome when they decided to make him, he was the only one in the piles and piles of plates the owner has and now he is mine.

We also went on a tour of the very first house every built in Cullinan in 1903. The manager of the mine lived there with his family. It’s a beautiful place, I would love to get my little renovating hands on it and turn into an amazing. I would probably keep the kitchen exactly the same ha!
