The other night we went and had dinner at a cute little eatery in Parkhurst called Coobs. This restaurant is one of my most favourite places in Joburg, so if you’re looking for a cool spot to hang out and have a good meal you should definitely pay them a visit.
We got chatting to the owner James who was telling us about how he sources the majority of his ingredients from his farm Brightside and what I love is that his menu changes frequently according to what is available or in season. James is such a great character and he is really passionate about Coobs and the food that it puts out.
Our food was really good (like always), for starters we had the Lemongrass and Ginger Ramen with Tofu, Spring Onion and Sprouts (R65), which I’m still dreaming about. It was one of the best soups I have ever slurped down. Then for mains we had Truffle Infused Gnocchi with Wild Mushrooms in a Sage Butter Sauce (R95) and the Sticky Smokey BBG Char-Grilled Grass Fed Sirloin (330g) with Bourbon Jus, Smoked Parsnip Puree and Braised Onions (R150). We ended with Churros and Chocolate Sauce, some of the best I’ve tasted, just like the ones you get at Lusito Land.
We very recently featured Coobs on Jobest, so if you want the full breakdown or want to read up on a bunch of other cool places that you can visit in this beautiful city of ours, just click here.
