Oh New York you are one crazy amazing place and I’m so glad we finally got to meet. A few weeks ago Shane and I went to the States for 20 days, we started in New York, then travelled to San Diego, Portland Oregon and ended in Las Vegas. We had never been to America before we also had never left Nina James for longer than two nights so this was a big trip in more than one way.
So many people had told us how awesome New York is, how it never sleeps, how there are a million and one things to do, see and eat and they weren’t wrong. It really is one of those places that always seems to be breathing no matter what time of day or night. Even though we missed Nina a lot (obviously) and I pretty much had a little cry every second night before I went to sleep, this trip was amazing and we had the best time and our decision to leave her behind was the right one and when we got back everything was just like we had left it except that NJ was bigger, cuter and even sweeter than before. So all was good in Durrant land.
I’m going to be doing a few posts about our trip and what we got up to and I’m starting with Coney Island which was one of our first stops in New York. This place is perfect if you like famous hotdogs from Nathan’s which has been operating since 1916, rollercoasters and people watching. There are all sorts of characters who occupy this boardwalk and I could of spent loads more time just taking photos, but it was so hot outside and no amount of slushy lemonade was shielding the glaring sun. I managed to get a few shots of some unsuspecting people and the surrounds in general some of which are made up of old school signage and mascots, which I loved! Coney Island is quirky to say the least but definitely worth a visit.
Have any of you been to Coney Island before, what did you think of it?
