Cherry Time

December 7, 2021

Hello guys…I have put together 3 cherry inspired drinks for you, one to suit every kind of craving you may have. They have all been made using a very simple, but delicious homemade syrup that I whipped up using fresh Cherry Time cherries? Once you’ve made yourself a batch, you’re good to go.

Once you’ve made yourself a batch of syrup you are good to go… First up, I have a good old fashion decadent Coke Float, but with a Cherry twist! It’s like a creamy dessert with a straw! How long has it been since you’ve had one of these?! I think the last time I had one I was like 15!

Next up, a delicious Cherry Gin Fizz which comes topped with a smooth foam and looks like something John Draper’s wife would serve at a fancy cocktail party! Yes! So good and the foam on top is so delicious!

And last but not least, an ice-cold Cherry & Mint Lemonade which comes garnished with fresh cherries & mint. Refreshing & super pretty to look at.

INGREDIENTS FOR CHERRY SYRUP:

1 cup Cherry Time Cherries – pitted
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 tsp lemon juice

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a pot over a med heat bring the cherries, sugar, water & lemon juice to a gentle boil. Reduce heat & simmer for 12 mins.
2. Remove from heat, then with a wooden spoon push down hard on the cherries before pouring the syrup through a sieve & into a bowl. Push as much liquid through the sieve as possible. Cool syrup completely.

CHERRY COKE FLOAT:

1. Place 2 x Scoops vanilla ice-cream into a milkshake glass, top with good old Coca-Cola then pour a tot and half of fresh Cherry Syrup on top! Enjoy!

CHERRY GIN FIZZ:

1. In a cocktail shaker add ice (about 8 blocks or so) 1 and a half tots gin 30mls fresh lime juice, 30mls homemade Cherry Syrup, 15mls elderflower syrup (if you have or any other syrup you may have), 30mls soda/sparkling water, 1 egg white.

2. Shake vigorously for a few minutes then strain into a martini/cocktail glass. Enjoy.

CHERRY & MINT LEMONADE.

1. In a long glass add lots of ice & some mint, using a spoon muddle the mint for a bit. Fill the glass 3/4 of the way up with lemonade or soda water (your choice), top with a good dash of Cherry Syrup. Garnish with fresh cherries & mint. Enjoy.
