Churche – Peek

October 17, 2017

Churche - Peek

I’m so excited to show you guys the entire series that we (Churche) shot for a great initiative called Peek created by the Craft and Design Institute to showcase beautiful products made locally in South Africa. Peek has an online store that stocks a lot of really cool products made by an array of people who are located all over South Africa from city centers to rural areas.

We wanted to do something different in order to showcase some of the items you can buy on the site, so we ordered a variety of things that we liked and we made outfits out of them to use in our shoot. We then got the beautiful Gladys Brown onboard and shot on the amazing grounds of Hertford Country Hotel.

Nina takes a walk down Country Road

August 17, 2017

Country Road-1

I love taking photos of my Nina James, especially when I get to dress her up in super cute outfits from Country Road. I was invited to shop their new August/September kids range and I came home with some really nice pieces, some of which I wish came in my size, like this floral dress! How sweet?

They currently have some really cool items in store for both girls and boys, in fact, I had a bit of a hard time choosing stuff, but I really loved what I came home with in the end and so did Nina who was particularly taken by this dress, she kept doing twirls in it – she kills me sometimes.

I take a lot of photos of my kids, in fact, I probably have like 100 000 of them stored up on my hard drive, but I literally only have a few really cool photos of myself and them together, which makes me really sad, so when Chloe from Kiss Kiss Photography contacted me and asked if she could come hang out with myself, Nina James and Rex for a morning I was like ‘Yes pllleeeaase!’

I never thought I would enjoy having photos taken of myself at home by someone I literally didn’t know, but Chloe was so warm and friendly and it didn’t feel awkward or strange in any way, it’s like she wasn’t even there and she managed to make a friend out of NJ in under a minute! She knew exactly how to talk to her (first sign that she’s a mom herself) and she knew that pulling out some bubble mixture as a gift would earn her some serious street cred.

Daphne Accessories – Churche

May 2, 2017

Daphne-Accessories-Churche-1

This year I promised myself that I would try to do as many shoots as I can with Adi under our label Churche. We love working with local labels, we love the time and effort that has been put into designing or creating what they have to offer and that’s why we were so excited to shoot these beautiful hand rolled scarves made by Daphne Accessories.

These locally manufactured scarves are designed by Danica, who is super sweet and really talented! I love her quirky designs because they are unlike anything I have ever seen before and they involve cats! Made in South Africa from Kashibo fabric with hand-rolled edges, these pieces will have you feeling super fancy in no time. Another awesome thing about Daphne Accessories is that all her scarves are limited edition pieces, so if you buy one you’ll be one of only a lucky few to have that specific print. How cool is that?!

Henriette Botha-1

Adi and I have been dying to do a Churche shoot! The last time we worked together I was so huge and almost ready to give birth to my baby Rex. It’s been a good few months since we’ve teamed up to shoot something for our little collective and that’s why I’m so excited to share this new series with you that we created for local jewelry designer Henriette Botha’s new range.

Hello my baby loves

April 23, 2017

NINA5-web

The other day I met a couple of awesome ladies who run a local label called Koco Bino, they have a sweet little boutique in Sandton City (Shop U81A ) jam packed full of babies, toddlers, young kids and moms-to-be clothes and just recently they launched their very own range: Koco Bino for Kids which they invited me to check out.

Their baby range is super cute, they’ve gone for graphic yet simple designs, but all the pieces are versatile and not your typical baby stuff, they’ve had fun with stripes and crosses, polka dots and nautical bits and pieces. Their toddler range is a bit fancier but definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something to put your little one in for a special occasion. They stock all sorts of items from hats to shoes to dresses and suits as well as cool little bits and pieces like toys, prams etc
