One day I want a house but for now I’ll pine over everyone else’s

September 21, 2016

Today on Design Files I spotted the beautiful home of  fashion designer Arabella Wilson, Chris Wilson and their two young daughters Marlowe and Lottie. This home is nestled amongst towering gum trees and can be described as Arabella puts it as ‘Rustic Robinson Crusoe’.

Shane is always trying to convince me to move into a house and I’m always trying to convince myself that I’m going to love it, but the truth is I’m quite scared of living on the ground, having a garden and burglar bars on every window and door. I wish I could get over my fears of houses because I’d love nothing more than for us to find a real ‘fix-me-upper’ where we can create our dream space. Maybe one day my stupid face will get over this fear and we’ll get to live in an awesome house with an awesome garden that has a conservatory in it! Now that would be amazing!

Kitchen inspiration

Kitchen inspiration-17

Lately, Shane and I have been discussing making some changes in our house, more specifically kitchen design changes. We are toying with the idea of moving it into our living room, so that we have a big open plan living space and then closing up the kitchen and making it into a fourth bedroom or a playroom for Nina James.

We love sitting around and coming up with ideas to on how to make our home better, in fact, Shane is so amped he’s even created a 3D digital model of our flat that includes all our thoughts so we can have a better idea of how it’s going to look. I think we speak more about this project than anything else, every time we come up with a new idea we get so excited! I just wish we could click our fingers and things would change because I must be honest I’m not a huge fan of the process involved in renovating.

Skinny laMinx - Brise Soleil-1

I’m so excited to share this next post with you guys, one because it has to do with Skinny laMinx’s new fabric range called Brise Soleil which is absolutely awesome and two because I’m giving away a R1000 voucher (scroll down for competition details) to one of you so you can pop online and shop the range for your home.

For those of you who don’t know Heather Moore is the brainchild behind Skinny laMinx, she’s the one that imagines, creates and designs these beautiful fabrics and I always get so excited when I hear that there is a new range out because I know that it won’t disappoint.

Pretty Swedish home

Pretty Swedish home-6

This super pretty Swedish home belongs to former model and interior designer Malin Persson and her family. The house is located in the seaside town of Malmö, Sweden and was originally built in 1908. The original facade was restored, lead windows were replaced, brick walls and wood floors were reinstated, crown moldings were reconstructed, and some plastered walls were left untouched, leaving all the original charm intact.

I think my favourite part is the beautiful antique cabinet in the kitchen, I’d love to have the space to have something like that in my house one day. I also really like the church benches in the dining room, I’ve always thought that was a cool idea.

My Coricraft room

My Coricraft room

coricraft-couch-angie

Last Friday myself, Anna-Belle and Lucy were all invited to Coricraft’s mega store in Kramerville to participate in a challenge where we got to decorate our own living rooms.

All we got given to start was a couch in an empty room and then free reign over the whole shop to decorate it however we liked. We roamed around for over an hour and half picking out pieces, it was so much fun! In fact I had so much fun decorating my room and I loved it so much that I now secretly live in it. They have no idea I’m there, I casually hang around during the day avoiding eye contact and then at night, just before they close I hide behind the couch like a stealthy ninja.

Ok so I’m talking rubbish, but what I’m not making up is that if you like the way I’ve decked out my room then you can head on over to Coricraft’s Facebook page and vote for it, so that you can put yourself in line to win a R2500 voucher from Coricraft to spend on whatever you like.
