Boogieman by Desmond and The Tutus

Boogieman by Desmond and The Tutus

BOOGIEMAN-SUNDAY-WEB

Whhhooo I’m so excited to share Boogieman by Desmond and The Tutus which is their latest music video and song off their album Enjoy Yourself. This dark and humorously creepy video is one that is very close to my heart because I got to co-art direct it with my dear friend and partner in ChurcheAdi Koen. This was such an awesome experience, we got to build the props and put together some of the masks and costumes that are in the video.

So many talented people worked on this project Shane co-directed it with the super talented Greg Rom from Gentlemen Films, Joel Janse Van Vuuren and Anmari Honiball made all the awesome once-off costumes and Devin Toselli was the DOP. I’m so proud of you guys and high-5 to the Jameson INDIE Channel for choosing the best music video concept and for help making this project happen, you guys rule!

The video references the budget horror films of Nollywood and traditional West African garb and the idea centers around Desmond and the Tutus getting kidnapped by the some of the coolest monsters you’ll ever see. I won’t say any more, watch the vide below and if you’re keen to see some behind the scene shots I took on the day, just keep scrolling.

Gypsey Rose – Churche

Gypsey Rose - Churche-13

A while back Churche was asked by local label Gypsey Rose to shoot their look book for them and seeing as Adi and I love creating and shooting stuff just as much as we love eating Super C’s and Nik-Naks (we LOVE eating Super C’s and Nik-Naks), we jumped at the opportunity and photographed an array of clothing that is very different to the stuff that we have shot in the past.

Gypsey Rose makes very girly, pretty clothing that is loose fitting and super comfortable to wear, it’s made up of loads of patterns and so we wanted to shoot in an environment that was beautiful, by stark enough so that the clothing would stand out. We also wanted to create a couple of bold headpieces for our model to wear, to add a bit of fanciness to the shoot. These headpieces scratched the living daylights out of our hands whilst we were making them, but I they were worth it.

Bite Me - Exhibition by Churche

Adi and I are so excited for our first Exhibition by Churche called Bite Me. It starts at Wolves tomorrow night and will be running until the end of the month. We wanted to create pieces that were fun and added a bit of humour to a room. There are 12 artworks to choose from and they are all A2 digital prints going for R490 a pop, available from Wolves or directly from me. If you’re keen to buy one just drop me an email (angie@luckypony.co.za) and I’ll make a plan to send it to you via the post.

You may have seen half the collection already in a previous post, but here they all are again.

Ps: No food was harmed or wasted during this shoot and all the Twinkies found a safe home in my stomach afterwards.

Josh Kempen

JOSH KEMPEN

If you haven’t heard the sweet voice of Josh Kempen, then you need to change that as soon as possible. This young man is a talented songwriter and musician and an all round nice guy who we got the opportunity to shoot a couple of weeks back.

Churche together with Josh and his absolutely beautiful girlfriend Bella Pinto spent an afternoon together taking photos, eating apples and just shooting the breeze. This is the second band shoot that Adi and I have done under our Churche label, you can check out the first one here if you’d like.

We really like how these photos came out, hope you like them too. I have included the whole shoot below as well as one of Josh’s music videos because I seriously think that everyone needs to become a fan asap.

Happy Monday!

Jump Maps jump

Maps Maponyane

Adi and I got together with our awesome friend Maps Maponyane the other day to shoot some photos of him. So what do you do when you get the chance to shoot one of the most handsome faces in South Africa? You make the owner of said face jump, high.

This is our latest project for our collective Churche, we played a bit with architecture and shadows and I’m really happy with the way they turned out. We even shot a few fun photos afterwards, because when you have a tripod and a self-timer you gotta do what you gotta do.

Let me know what you think of this project and once again if you’re wanting to work with Churche, all you have to do is drop us a mail for a chat – angie@luckypony.co.za

Thanks Maps for being such a good sport.
