We went to Cape Town last weekend for the Loerie Awards. I had a very nice time in the pretty Cape, I think one day I shall live there and run through my garden everyday like a mad man in his underpants. On Saturday we went to Kalk Bay to Kalkies for lunch. Wowzers so nice. Why are friends and fried fish so awesome?
My best friend Gina took me to Vamp Furniture in Woodstock and I finally got to meet Paula, who is as lovely in person as she is in her mails and her shop is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Her collection of mirrors is crazy and she has such beautiful kitchenalia and furniture and stuff. I grabbed a few things, wish I could of bought more but getting it back here would of been a drama. Lets face it, me trying to carry a dinning room table onto the plane as hand luggage would never have worked.
I did buy these amazing yellow cake plates for the shop, which I’m not going to lie I was quite sad to part with and this awesome vintage serving bowl, which is all mine mine mine. This colour green makes my face feel happy like a semi- burnt marshmellow in my stomach. mmmm semi-burnt marshmellows… Gina King bought these super pretty blue cups as a present for Wolves, again wish I didn’t have to hand them over. Sad. And the bunny is from Paula x xxx
As for the macaroons….My Shane whipped them up. Yip and they were delicious, I was so proud of him as I shoved one into my face and chewed smiling the whole way through. I want to make some too, when I do I will document the process and then blog about it, that way you can make some and we can all be fat together. YES.

Oh. Touching heart area and shedding a tear, I love Cape Town. The furniture store looks amazing.
But Angie! You would absolutely love the West Rand, as we have a few second hand and antique stores scattered around in our area. Do you want to know a secret? They have the same items as those in the norhern suburbs, but are priced a little bit cheaper then for example one in Melville, as the area dictates the prizes charged.
For antiques you must go down Ontdekkers Road to Westdene/Brixton area. Having travelled down this road a few times, I can vouch that the stores claiming to have second hand furniture in fact have antiques, as well as many antique stores being concentrated along that area.
Apparently Florida also has a few “antique” stores. But I know for sure that there is a very nice antique store in Krugersdorp.
Your Shane can make Macaroons!? If you sell them at Wolves, I will be there every Saturday from now until the day I die.
DUDE! How could you not have told me you were here AND in Kalk Bay??? Shiver me timbers!
So nice to meet you in person Angie! Hope the rest of your weekend was fabulous x x x
Ooh your Shane is clever! Those macaroons look lovely.Sigh, Kalk Bay, so awesome!
I wanted to buy those yellow plates:-(
Isn’t VAMP awesome? And I see from your pics that its time for me to pop in and check out all the gorgeous new goodies. Better stuff my wallet with some extra dosh so that I can buy all I ‘need’.

lala – Oh man sorry…. No really I am, I get so sad if I want something and I
picture buying it and then when I get the shop they are no where to be seen
and then I feel like if I could I would kick myself in the behind pants.
karen – Hahah i “need” I love that. We all differ from the “need” disorder. Haha!
That shop is awesome, If I loved closer I would live on the store!
Oh my goodness, can’t I buy that bunny? I know it was a gift and all, but I collect them and that one looks like a real charmer. Like it’ll sniff up to you and paw it’s little whiskers. I know that I have already been one of the lucky-est girls in the whole widest world, but that bunny will make me…well…even lucky-er. (Yes, it is within your power to do that!) So name your price?
liki – if you live in cape town, one of the shops in the antique arcade in long street…the shop is opposite the coffee shop there…the owner often has sylvac bunnies.too cute, my one has
a cotton wool hole, where his tail should be. pricey, but they are collectors items. sorry for bad grammer and sentence structure…looooonnng day!
thanks alex. but i’m not in the beautifulness that is cape town. pout. poor me indeedio.
enjoy your bunny! (a looooonnngg day can excuse most things, including weird windy sentences)
liki- i would feel so bad if i sold my vamp bunny…. Plus if I gave someone something and they sold it i would make me super sad, so that’s double sad. not good. But i will look out for bunnies for you 🙂
this be true. but you know me, i like begging (apparently) 🙂
