ANTIQUES, jewellery, PLACES

Antique hunting in the East.

November 14, 2011

Yesterday I went to an antique fair in Benoni. There were lots of cool stalls and lots of nice things to buy, some a bit pricey, some not so much and there was a pannekoek stand, where we bought pancakes for 4 rond each. I could of sucked like 8 of those puppies down they were so good and sugary.

I was very good yesterday, I didn’t go overboard at all. I was actually quite selective about the stuff that I bought, plus there were a few things that I really wanted, but they were asking a few too many ronds for, so I didn’t buy them, which is really good for me because I suck at ‘not shopping’ sometimes.

I love going to to these types of things, there are always so many interesting people around and I love the fact that you have to really look and spot things at a lot of the stalls, it’s like a game where you get to come home with awesome stuff that you don’t need. Too. Much. Fun.

Here are the few things I snapped up. I bought a small, toy metal Singer sewing machine, which was super heavy. I walked around with this thing all afternoon, nearly lost an arm from it’s packet cutting off my blood circulation. Also found a Lucia Ware dog for only R25, which is a really good price. My brooches were spotted by Jo, love them both, especially the bow. And then I found an old school dominoe set for the Wolves bookshelf and Jo bought me the sweet little skinny Bambi below. So all in all we did alright and it was a good Sunday. Hope you all had nice weekends too xx

That sewing machine is a winner! I have a similar one at my house in JHB, but its attached to a whole cupboard thing, where you can flip it inside the cupboard and store all your materials when you are not working. You can detach it, and i took it to some lingerie sewing classes in Rosebank, holy hells it was heavy… ridiculous to carry around!

This one is a mini mini one, it’s so cute. It was a children’s toy back in the day.
