Nina James has a new room

Nina James has a new room, a big girl’s room as we have been calling it, with a big girl bed and big girl table and chairs to draw at. I can’t believe my baby girl is 2 years and 4 months old. She has grown so much, especially over the last couple of months. In a way, it breaks my heart because my baby is fast becoming a little grown-up but it also makes me so happy to see her progress and grow and learn new things that make us flipping laugh. This child of mine is a real little character and she does and says the most random, awesome stuff. Sometimes Shane and I just literally turn and look at each other and say “Where did that come from?!”

So before I knew it my baby needed a big bed, which in my mind meant a whole room overhaul! Yes please. We wanted to get her a bunk bed because both Shane and I remember being little and absolutely dying for bunk beds. I think I would of run around the world for one if that was humanly possible for a 10-year-old to do! So bunk beds it was! I went looking around and came across a site called Clever Little Monkey who source some of the coolest kids furniture, bedding and decor I’ve ever seen. NINA JAMES IS WINTER READY

So it’s almost time for jersey and jackets and no more open toe shoes. Yip, Winter she is a coming and I for one couldn’t be happier, I love the cold and I love getting all bundled up. I just wish that our Winters were greyer, I don’t like it when the sun is shining and the skies are crystal blue, but then it’s freezing outside! It literally makes me feel sad hehe. I’d prefer it if it was dark and gloomy to match the temperature.

Anyway, over the weekend I picked up some new things for Miss James and then I let her run around outside while I took some snaps of her. So without further a due here is Nina James wearing clothes from Cotton On and possibly one of the best pairs of shoes I have ever seen from a local label called Butter Pudding.

What my Nina James is like at 1 year and 2 days old

Oh my Nina, this is what I chant every chance I get whether I’m with her or not. I know it sounds strange but I really do, this child is literally on my mind all the time no matter what I’m doing or where I am. Nina turned a whole 365 days old on the 29th of July. On that day we received a whole bunch of calls and messages congratulating us and we felt so blessed to have so many people sending such good wishes to our baby girl. Thanks to everyone who did, Shane and I really appreciate it!

The last time I wrote one of these was over 3 months ago and since then she has changed a bucketload. First of all she has hair. Hooray! If I could add all existing celebratory emoticons to this sentence I would. Gone are the days of her hardly having any locks at the top of her head, she now has little tiny curls that are starting to form and if I try really hard I can make the world’s tiniest ponytail at the back of her head. She’s fair like her dad and definitely doesn’t have my yellow tinge, yes I have a yellow tinge to my skin, when Shane and I hold hands it looks like a Simpson and a pink jellyfish are being romantic. Anyway….. Neens is fair, but her eyes are dark like mine. She is super alert and sees and hears everything. I think her favourite sound in the world is the the Skype ringtone and the front door being opened, she gets so excited that every now and then she snort laughs (which she totally gets from me).

What my Nina James is like at 9 months and 12 days old

My Nina James is 9 months and 12 days old. Yip she is nearly one years old, nearly 365 days have past since this little creature came into our lives. I haven’t written one of these posts in a while and seeing as Sunday was Mother’s Day (hope you all enjoyed yours), I thought I would type one out.

Nina has changed so much, not only physically but mentally too, she is a real little character, a wonderful little character. She has started crawling and is all over the place like a intrepid explorer. I don’t think it’s going to be long before she starts walking, because she is pulling herself up onto everything and subsequently pulling everything down that is in front of her. There have been no ceramic casualties yet, but I’m sure that’s going to change soon!

What my Nina James is like at 6 months old

It’s the 29th of January, which means today Nina James turns a half a year old. As I type this post I struggle to accept that a whole 6 months has passed since Nina was in my stomach booting the living daylights out of me.

When Nina was 3 months old I wrote a blog post about what she was like and what it feels like to have her in our lives and I’m going to keep this project going, so here’s the next one… What my Nina James is like at 6 months:

In the last 3 months, a lot has changed with Nina and one of the best developments has been her laugh. She giggles a lot and out loud, it’s honestly one of the most amazing sounds ever and I’m not exaggerating when I say this. When she laughs it makes me feel like the happiest, funniest person on the planet. Man, if I got a reaction like that from anyone else, I would seriously consider a career in stand up comedy. Unfortunately though to get Nina to laugh hard, all you have to do is repeat the same word over and over AND over again and I’m not sure how well that material would go down at a comedy club. Oh well, at least I still have a good few years with Neens before she stops laughing at my ‘jokes’ and starts rolling her eyes!

Nina James takes her first bite

Yesterday my baby girl had her very first taste of something other than breast milk. We set her up in her Bumbo and we fed her some porridge for the first time ever. She was so excited, her little hands were going and she was reaching for the bowl, it was like she knew what was coming and she wasn’t going to miss out on any of it.

She absolutely loved it and surprisingly enough got more in her mouth than anywhere else, which just goes to show that the Greek gene in her is strong because she likes food a lot!

On the 29th of this month my Nina will be a whole 6 months old. People keep telling me that time goes by so quickly and that babies grow so fast and I’m witnessing it first hand, I cannot believe that half a year has nearly passed since I was pregnant with her. It’s nuts!

I was super proud of her yesterday when she slurped down her 2 teaspoons of porridge if she was participating in an under 6- month old eating competition, I have no doubt in my mind that she would of smoked everyone at the table. Soon enough she’s going to start on steamed veggies etc I’m so excited to see how she’s going to react.
