MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet’s 21 years of Giving Back

February 25, 2019

Last week my friend Jo and I went to visit Cotlands. We arrived with a bunch of cupcakes and spent a lovely morning with the awesome ladies who work there and the wonderful group of kids who fall are under their care a few times a week.

One of the reasons for the cupcakes and the visit is that this month MySchool My Planet MyVillage is celebrating their 21st birthday and in turn have set aside R2.1 million to give away to 21 deserving causes across South Africa. So through this MySchool21 campaign, you get to choose where all this money goes by nominating any beneficiary that is making a difference in our communities and for me, Cotlands was most deserving.

This organisation has always been on my radar, ever since I worked on it a few years back when I was still in advertising and since having kids of my own I can really appreciate and respect those out there looking out for little ones in need.

MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet – 20 Years of Giving Back

October 23, 2017

I’m so pleased to announce that I’ll be partnering with one of South Africa’s most trusted and established community loyalty programmes, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet to celebrate their 20th anniversary this year. Launched in 1997 the programme raises more than R6 million a MONTH for a wide range of schools, charities, and conservation organisations and to date has over 1.2 million supporters and has raised over R500 million over the last 20 years!

During this celebratory period, MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet want to know what matters most to all of you! They want to hear which charity or school you care about and in exchange, they’re giving TWENTY lucky people a R20 000 Woolworths gift card each as well an additional R20 000 to every winner’s chosen beneficiary! How awesome?!

MySchool and Better SA

June 8, 2017

Something I have really been wanting to do more of this year and just, in general, is volunteer more of my time towards anywhere really that needs a couple of helping hands. The thing that bugs me about myself is that I often think about how I would like to get more involved but then I never take it further than a thought because time gets away from me, or I just don’t put enough effort into finding out where I can actually go to help, which is not great on my part!

And that is why I was so amped to discover that MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet has partnered up with Johannesburg-based non-profit organisation (NPO) Better SA and their very innovative and super awesome hop-on hop-off mini-bus volunteer service, which literally arranges everything for you. Get this, all you have to do is go online and book your spot on one of their buses which will be waiting at various pre-determined pick spots around Johannesburg every single Saturday. The service is free of charge and co-ordinated from start to finish so that all you have to do is pitch up and make the most of the time you have available! How cool is that?

Over the last few months, I have shared a few great projects on my blog that MySchool is involved in that are not only really awesome but have also really made a difference to the organisations that they stand behind. They have an array of worthy causes that they support and love and that they help their customers get behind them just by simply swiping their MySchool cards instore.

On my blog, I have spoken about the Shine Literacy Project that they endorse which is an amazing organisation that has been around for 17 years and assists with South Africa’s high stats around poor reading and comprehension. I have also spoken about the great volunteer project where MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet has partnered up with a Johannesburg-based non-profit organisation called (NPO) Better SA and their very innovative and super awesome hop-on hop-off mini-bus volunteer service, which literally arranges everything for you, making donating some of your time to those in need the easiest task around.

Shine Literacy

April 24, 2018

Quite a while back I wrote a post about an amazing volunteer project where MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet had partnered up with a Johannesburg-based non-profit organisation called (NPO) Better SA and their very innovative and super awesome hop-on hop-off mini-bus volunteer service, which literally arranges everything for you. So, in other words, you jump onto their site volunteer your time and then they will pick you up, drop you off at the place that needs your services and then bring you back again, which means all you have to worry about is arriving at the pick-up point armed with your time that will 100% make a difference to not one but several people’s lives.

Online shopping, giving back and Strawberry Milkshake Cupcakes

June 28, 2016

I’m a huge fan of online shopping mainly because I get to sit on my butt on my couch and look at pretty things which I can order just by pressing a couple of computer keys. I mean don’t get me wrong I love a bit of a Mall trawl every now and then, but nothing beats being able to shop in your tracksuit pants and socks while Game of Thrones plays in the background.

I have a few sites that I really like because of their selection and reliability and one of those places is LOOT, in fact 9 times out of 10 when I’m ordering books online this is my go to place, so I was super pleased to hear that and MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet have just recently made LOOT one of their new retail partners, which means that every time I shop with them I’m giving back to my community and more specifically to my chosen beneficiary the Thuso Fund for Schools & Charities ( LOOT will give back a percentage on every item purchased across their extensive shop towards the MySchool MyVillage MyPlanet program). All I have to do is input my MySchool card number during my payment process and that’s that and the best part is the donation comes from the retailer at no extra expense to the consumer!
