Johannesburg street fashion

May 31, 2015

johannesburg-street-fashion-1

If you go down town these days you will see some of the coolest kids around, sporting some of the most awesome Johannesburg street fashion. Guys who look like they have effortlessly put together their looks and then wear them like Kings.

I went into the city with my Canon PowerShot SX600 HS and took some photographs of people out and about. I thought this would be an awesome end to my 3-part series that I’m doing with ‘Create With Canon’. I love people watching and I love taking photos of individuals. I’ve always wanted to one day collect all of them and put them into a book, so that I can page through it and enjoy them as a whole collection. I have so many photos of so many strangers, so I definitely think I’m going to make it happen one day.

But for now take a look at all this guys that I snapped. Yes, there are no girls in this post, but that is because I feel like the boys rule the fashion scene in town. Hands down.

Enjoy.

The Patisserie in Illovo

April 29, 2015

The Patisserie
Today I’m posting the next story that makes up my 3-part series that I’m doing with ‘Create With Canon’. This time around I took the little Canon PowerShot SX600 HS that they gave me to The Patisserie in Illovo. I’m surprised I didn’t get cake all over the lense, because I was pretty much getting up close and personal with all the awesome looking sweet things that they had to offer.

Have any of you been to The Patisserie in Illovo? It’s been around for a while now and it is one of the prettiest little French themed cake shops in town. It’s full of all sorts of baked goods that’ll have your pudding compartment (located just behind the stomach) doing The Macarena, whilst simultaneously high-5ing all other organs. From it’s pink candy-striped wallpaper to the silver antique teapots your tea comes in, everything about this little spot is just too nice.

Rosewater Cupcakes and friends

March 31, 2015

tea-time
So today I’m starting a 3-part series on my blog called ‘Create With Canon’. I was given a pocket-friendly Canon PowerShot SX600 HS to use over the next few months and even though it’s a lot smaller than the camera I normally shoot with, I’m keen to see what it’s capable of and so far so good. I’m really having fun with little guy, because it’s compact and so easy to use, so here is part one in this project and it’s called Rosewater Cupcakes and friends. Hope you enjoy it.

I invited two of my very good friends over for a little tea and some Rosewater Cupcakes, which I lovingly and quickly baked a few hours before they arrived. I have never made anything with rosewater in it before, but it smells like Turkish Delight so I was only more than happy to dive head first into this recipe and into the end results.

Boyfriend jeans

January 20, 2015

Angie-durrant1

So I may be a little late to hop onto the whole boyfriend jean train, but last weekend I went out and bought myself a pair. I’m so used to wearing skinny jeans that I’ve almost forgotten what it’s like to wear normal pants. When I first put them on I felt like I was almost transported back to 1998, I mean they’re not even that baggy, so maybe I’m being a bit dramatic, but anyway heeee. They’re super comfy and I can eat as many of these Boston Cream Cakes as I like and not have to undo any buttons. Happiness.

This is what Madeline did in 2011

January 17, 2012

My friend Tim sent me this very very cool video that was shot by Madeline Schichtel from Los Angeles. I would love to make something like this. It requires commitment, but soon I shall have some free time, so maybe I will challenge myself. Rad idea Madeline, very very rad. Here, have a virtual high-5.

– I shot a little video every day of 2011 on my Canon Powershot, then I edited it all down to a little over a second each. It’s interesting to be able to look back on my year and remember these little moments. I love living in LA. I love the friends I’ve made. And I love seeing how much has changed over just one year being here. Sure, I guess now that I see it, I got sick and worked a lot this year (lots of driving, running around doing errands all day). But oh well, it’s motivation for 2012.

N.Y.

May 24, 2010

Stubs (jo) came back from New York yesterday and she bought me some pressssents and a canon flash that i ordered for my G10. look how smart and professional it looks now, like a child with a moustache. Can’t wait to try it out, just need to get me some batteries. Jo also bought me some cool things that have made me very happy – some pretty vests and a nice new stripy jersey and a snow globe, cause i really really want to to go to New York and so now i’m one step closer, well sort of hee. Jo also picked up a One Show award graeme and i won for a chicken licken ad we did. The trophy is a metal pencil, that doesn’t write – damn.
