n+a new york16. July 2014
This simple, but oh so beautiful jewellery is made by sisters Noriko and Akiko Sugawara under their label n+a new york. They’re so delicate but imperfect at the same time, I really like them.
- n+a new york is a jewelry line founded by sisters Noriko and Akiko Sugawara, who originally come from Yokohama, Japan. Designing their collections and making all pieces in their studio in Tribeca, New York City, Noriko and Akiko create finely crafted, handmade jewelry. Their designs reflect the subtle beauty of the details of both city life and nature. Details that often go unnoticed in the busy rush of ordinary life—the textures of rocks and leaves, details of historic buildings in New York City, cracks in subway walls, the sparseness of branches in winter, and the richness of blossoms and leaves in summer—catch their eyes and inspire the motifs of beautiful jewelry pieces. Respect for the nature of their materials connects their designs to their inspirations. Noriko and Akiko’s unique perspectives and Japanese sensibilities give birth to an original aesthetic in jewelry design.
Pretty rings…21. February 2014
How pretty is the diamond cluster ring below? I found it on Free People, then I went looking for more and more I found. But let me warn you now, 80% of them are quite pricey, some are a few hundred and some a few thousand. Man I need to get myself some fat pockets.
Kaye Blegvad – new shinies27. January 2014
This is Kaye Blegvad new jewellery collection, I have blogged about this talented young lass before because I really like her illustrative style and so when I saw that she had some new pieces up on her site I thought I would share them with you guys because they’re just so damn pretty.
Rings of love.07. November 2013
I have had this folder of photos forever and I keep forgetting to post about these absolutely lovely Victorian antique wedding rings. There are always two hands clasped together to symbolise eternal love, but often if you open up the ring it’ll reveal a little heart. These rings are so pretty and such a unique way to tell someone that you will love them forever. Some are rarer than others, but this shop has quite a few for sale if you’re keen.
- Fede Gimmel Ring : The fede ring has a long history dating back to antiquity. The major type of this ring is the motif of two right hands traditionally one female & the other male, clasped together & holding a heart. Known from the original italian “mani in fede” (hands in faith or trust) it was quite popular during the renaissance & given as a token of betrothal. A gimmel ring is composed of two or more bands joined together with a tiny pin that acts as a fulcrum or pivot enabling the bands to swivel, align & come together to form one ring to symbolize the union of two people.
Dear Rae Luxury Range05. November 2013
Just saw Dear Rae’s luxury range on my friend Andrew’s site. I thought the pieces and photos were too pretty now to share with you guys. She will be selling this line at the Food Wine Design Fair this weekend, so if you’re going to visit, you should stop and say hi, maybe try one or two shiny things on.
There are 2 pieces that I love, the little red point ring and the grey one just below. They’re all beautiful, but those are my favourite. I also think the wreaths they made for this photo shoot are amazing. Nice nice nice.
Polki Diamond range10. September 2013
Black Betty who I have blogged about in the past has just come out with some brand new designs called The Polki Diamond range, which contains super pretty pieces all designed using uncut and unpolished diamonds, which gives this jewellery such a different and unique look. Love how dainty and precious looking each thing is, I can only imagine that they look as delicate on as they do in these photos. I think the bangles are my most favourite things.
Kirsten, the maker of these lovely lovelies is hosting a pop-up shop on the 11 and 12th of September from 10am -4pm at LALALUX, 50, 6th Street, Parkhurst. She will have this diamond collection on display (and for sale) as well as pieces from her Treacle Range which is made up of semi precious stones wrapped in sterling silver with (or without) double gold plating.
Her stuff really is nice and I don’t think you will battle to find something that you want, the battle is going to be trying to stop at buying just one – good luck
