Weekend and cats.25. February 2013
This weekend Shane and I went to Dullstroom for our friends combined birthday party. We spent the weekend on a beautiful farm that had the most amazing views, with grass and mountains for days. There were about 24 of us altogether and there were a lot of card games, chops, drinks, potjies, music, chocolate, flings and fun.
Every now and then getting out of the city is the best thing for you. I think it should be done at least once a month. Yes please.
Here are some photos I took on the Saturday night and some photos of the cat themed Toblerone cake I made for the birthday girls and a peak at the clay cats I made as part of Jo’s birthday present. You know how she owns 2 of the sweetest, flattest faced cats around? Well I thought I would immortalise them for her in Daz clay.
They were super fun to make and the best part about it was the smell. The second I opened the foil wrappers it took me straight back to my kinder years. I almost ate a bit of it too.
Here is a picture of the Toblerone chocolate cake I baked. I’m going to do an entirely different post for this guy the next time I bake it, It was a really nice, soft cake and the icing was ‘I’m going to stick my face into the mixing bowl” kind of good.
And finally here are some photos of Olie and Harold, Jo’s cats made out of clay. I slammed the front of the head part on the table to get just the right amount of flatness. I included a photo of the actual Olie and Harold just so you can see how accurate my creations are.

Hello Harold.28. March 2012
This is Jo’s new kitty cat. He squealed like a little hairy pig when we picked him up for photo time and then he hid in the shoe cupboard. Shame he’s so sweet looking.
Hello Harold, Aunty Angie loves you.
Sorry Jaws, I didn’t mean to pee on you.16. September 2011
On Wednesday night Jo and I (Emma-Jane too) were invited to a Kodak launch party. We like taking pictures and cameras and cool junk so we thought we would go along and see what they had to say. What we didn’t expect was this snazzy little gift that we got on our way out. This my friends is an HD underwater camera, which yes looks like a sporty cell phone, but is anything but. I’m actually really excited about this little gadget, because in December Shane and I are going to Mozambique and i’m going to be shooting Jaws 13 on this little bad boy. All I need now is a blow-up shark because if there was a real one anywhere near us I would be the first person in history to literally fly whilst peeing across water.
Anyone fancy being an extra in this?
What we were actually there for was to see and interact with their new Inkjet Printer that can print in 3D, yes you guessed it, you can literally take a normal picture on your camera and then print it out through this machine as a 3D image. Pretty crazy hey? They gave some of these away too, but we didn’t win one, so we swiped some of their delicous nougat they had out for us to snack on. Thanks Kodak for the awesome gift and sorry about the nougat (I’m blaming that on the mojitos).

So have a read and then invite yourself xxx we’re super excited about this and we think it’s going to be a lots of fun xxx
*Thanks again to Cat from KWV wines for provinding some wino for the night.
Chocolate pudding was a hit, not that I would know. Sad face.17. June 2011
On Wednesday night some friends and I went to Marina’s house for supper, gluhwein, port, chocolate pudding and old episodes of Friends. Watching Friends was so funny and a little depressing because we were all actually quite young when it was first on our TV screens, which makes us oldies now ha! Man, 90′s fashion was so wrong, just plain wrong and wrong again. Jeans too high and narrow. Chiffon skirts and hotpants, yikes! Waistcoats, but bad waistcoats and the shoes, oh the shoes, i’m still shuddering when I think about the clunky shoes. But despite the onslaught of 90′s fashion eyesores, we had such a cool evening. The food was amazing and gluhwein makes me very very happy.
As you can see i’m taking full advantage of my instagram app, you can follow me if you want xx i’m called miss_luckypony x xx
I attempted the chocolate pudding recipe I posted about a while back. It came out really nicely, or so I was told. I’ve given up chocolate for the a little tiny while, I have a bet on with my copywriter, the first one to cave and trust me their have been moments, has to come to work wearing high pigtails for the whole day (me in pigtails, not a pretty sight) and carrying cash money to take the other one out for a fancy lunch.
Well anyway I didn’t have any, but Stubs scoffed hers down in about 6 minutes, so it must of been nice.
It was a really easy dessert to make if any of you are considering making it, but do keep in mind that I had to double the recipe to make 4 decent jars of it. Cool.
* 2 tablespoons cornstarch
* 1/8 teaspoon (just a pinch) salt
* 1/3 cup cocoa powder
* 1/2 cup maple syrup or sweetener of choice
* 2 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
* 2 cups milk
* 2 tablespoons butter
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions:
In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cornstarch, salt, cocoa powder, and maple syrup until smooth. In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk and egg yolks. Slowly whisk the milk & yolks into the mixture in the pan. Set the heat to medium and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil. Boil and stir for 1 minute Remove from heat and stir in the butter & vanilla. Serve warm (over ice cream) or chilled (with whipped cream).
