Slappy Cakes in Tokyo

June 20, 2013

slappy-cakes-9

When we were in Tokyo we went to such an awesome restaurant called Slappy Cakes, which not only had the raddest name, but was also such a fun place to eat in. You see their tables are not like ordinary tables, because they have big rectangle hotplates in the middle so that you can cook your own pancakes any way you like them! Apparently you get these kind of places in America.

So what you do is order the type of pancake batter you want and then whatever ingredients you feel like going into your pancakes, like bacon, chocolate chips, nuts, fruit, Nutella, well you get the picture. I ordered lavender honey, whipped cream and HOMEMADE Nutella and then I proceeded to stuff my pie-hole.

fuji-instax-6

This weekend Shane and I went to Dullstroom for our friends combined birthday party. We spent the weekend on a beautiful farm that had the most amazing views, with grass and mountains for days. There were about 24 of us altogether and there were a lot of card games, chops, drinks, potjies, music, chocolate, flings and fun.

Every now and then getting out of the city is the best thing for you. I think it should be done at least once a month. Yes please.

Instax time

November 15, 2012

Every Monday night some friends and I that live in Illovo have what we like to call RumdayIllovo. There are about 10 of us and we all live in a nice little triangle across from each other on different blocks. Each week one of us cooks for all the rest and then we walk to each others houses, sit, talk rubbish, drink rum and eat a crap load of food. It’s so much fun.

The other night I thought I would give my Fuji Instax some exercise. Here is my Rum Family who I love very much x

clothes, FASHION

Durrants in wolves’ clothing.

June 13, 2012

When I was in Sweeden a few years back I saw a dog sweater similar to this one, the only difference was that it had an Alsatian’s face on the front. I was so amped to buy it, but it was over R1000 and back then that was a big chunk of my spending money, so I had to leave the furry behind.

Then on Saturday, when I went shopping with my granny, we found these knitted bundles of joy. My granny actually pointed them out to me and then insisted that she buy me AND SHANE one each, because of the wolf on the front hee. Yes, my granny rules.

I’m still trying to convince Shane to wear his on the same day as me. So far i’m not winning, but I will……………………..hehe

Antique shopping in Parys for the day

May 17, 2012

The other day I took a drive to Parys with a friend for the day. We saw some really cool things, but sadly we didn’t buy a lot. At all. Which is really not like me, at all. There were things I desperately wanted, like the vintage plastic brooches below and the toy metal typewriter, which I have never seen before, but the man who owned that particular shop was not selling much of his precious loot and he was no where to be seen, so I couldn’t even cry like a baby to try change his mind. Half his stock wasn’t ‘for sale’ it was just on display, which was very frustrating, to say the least.

The Leopard

April 26, 2012

On Saturday I got to spend the afternoon with some of my best friends. We went to The Leopard on 4th ave in Parkhurst. It’s a very cool little restuarant and the food is great. The owner changes the menu up every once in a while, which is very refreshing, brave, but refreshing. I had mussels in a coconut sauce. It was delicious, my only gripe is that there wasn’t enough of them, I wish the bowl was double the size.

The actual shop is a mishmash of antique lights, paintings and crockery, which is just up my alley and there is always bananas, ice-cream and caramel fudge sauce on the menu. HELLO. What more could you ask for.
