This collection from Stone Cold Fox is from last year, but I stumbled across it and couldn’t help but repost it. There seems to be a real trend for this embroidered lace cutout look and I’m not complaining, It’s so so pretty. Now if only normal people, like myself could afford some of it.
Today online I saw a Tweet about whether or not Gavin Rajah crossed a line when it comes to fashion inspiration vs. copying. He has just shown at Mercedez-Benz Fashion Week in Johannesburg and his collection and one dress in particular bore a striking resemblance to a dress made by UK designer Han Chong, who is the creative director at Self Portrait. So I went and had a look at said label and instantly forgot about the debate (although my opinion is that Gavin Rajah definitely copied the dress) and instead was mesmerised by Self Portrait’s beautiful creations.
The amount of detail and craftsmanship that has gone into every one of these pieces is amazing. These dresses are so romantic and whimsical, I can only imagine how hard it would be to just pick one, not that I’m going to get to pick any, but that is besides the point.
I spotted Margot Molyneux SS14/15 Collection on Twitter this morning. This young lass is Cape Town based and makes such pretty, easy to wear clothes. Her new series is made up of soft colours and a mix of plain and printed material that definitely makes you feel like Summer is in the air. Nice nice nice.
Check out the whole collection here.
I know I’m already married, but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating beautiful wedding dresses, especially when they look like these gems from Truvelle. These bridal dresses are handmade in Vancouver Canada, BUT are available to anyone who can see themselves walking down the aisle in one. Where were you guys 6 years ago when I was skipping towards my Shane in Clarens?! Although I loved my wedding dress, so it’s all good.
I love all of them, they have such a French feeling and even though they’re quite vintage-like, there’s a slight modern twist to them. So pretty and so soft, but not over the top and gaudy and there isn’t one meringue in sight. Want even better news? They are available right here in South Africa – LOCA Vintage in Richmond Hill: LOCA Vintage Bridal Lounge, 20 Stanley Street, Richmond Hill, Eastern Cape, South Africa, 6001
Wowzers how absolutely amazing and beautiful are these pieces from the Valentino Spring 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection? It makes me sad that I don’t think I will ever own something as special as one of these dresses. Sigh and damn them all to hell.
