Came across Chiharu Torita’s accessory pin board this afternoon and fell in love with all these pieces that she found and pinned.

Will you marry me?01. July 2011
My granny was here from Zimbabwe for a few days and I got to spend Saturday morning with her last weekend. She is so lovely and small and kind and awesome. I look at her and I want to cry because every time I see her I hope that it won’t be the last time. I know that is a weird thing to say, but she is 86 years old and she lives so far away from me, so I don’t get to see her often.
My gran, for her whole life has been a great collector of beautiful jewelry. I was admiring her engagement ring (which she wants me to have one day) and while we were waiting for lunch I took some pictures of it, the setting is so classic for the 1950’s. This ring is amazing in real life, in fact I have never seen such a beautiful and clear diamond before. She loves this ring and what I love about my gran is she is always well dressed and always wearing it, even though it’s quite flashy, she doesn’t care, she loves it.
I hope one day i’m like my gran at 86, she’s funny, she’s sweet and she knows exactly what’s going on. Knowing me I’ going to be nuts in the head and a poker slash Scrabble addict who drinks way too much milky tea.

Last night Shane and I went out to supper with my granny (pretty lady in the picture below). She is such an amazing woman, she’s 86 and still as sharp as a tac and as young looking as a 65 year old. I was admiring her rings, when she realised that I wasn’t wearing a wedding band, just my engagement ring…. she whipped her eternity ring off that my grandfather gave her over 60 years ago and gave it me. It makes me so happy to wear it and to know that it belonged to my gran and it’s something that means a lot to her and now a lot to me. Thank you yiayia, love you so much xxx
Holy ship this is awesome!04. October 2010
When Jo and I went to Durban a few weeks ago we went to a pretty little restaurant and antique store called The Church House (I think). It was such a awesome day for everyone. I bought this amazing art deco ship mirror for a friend of mine who asked for it – she’s so lucky I handed it over to her. I was seriously thinking about sailing into the night with it and denying I knew her every time she called me to find out when she could come pick it up. If you have ever seen one of these mirrors you’ll know how super awesome they are and this one is perfect. Jo also found a beautiful vintage engagement ring. Her one was unfortunately stolen a few days prior, but this one was in this very antique store just waiting for her. Antique rings are like a bag full of only pink jelly tots; amazing. And I walked away with a belly full of chocolate pot with whipped cream, which was so damn good. I personally think I came up the winner out of these 3, but I won’t tell them that, I don’t want to hurt their ring and ship feelings…
