These paintings are by Japanese artist Naomi Okubo, I really like how she layers each one with patterns and textures, they create a sensory overload, but in such a good way. It’s like she’s made up these super colourful worlds that her subjects get lost in, literally.

– Naomi Okubo is a Japanese artist who is currently spending a few months in New York City. She is interested in the relationship between people in advanced cultures, like the U.S. and Japan, and their relationships with fashion and their appearance, since many do not have concerns about real necessities like housing and food. Certainly, her detailed portraits of girls in floral dresses lounging in homes and gardens with  Oriental rugs and boho-patterned pillows focus on the rich color and pattern of material goods.
