Zara in South Africa – It’s heeeereeeeee and it’s bought friends.

November 10, 2011

Last night I was lucky enough to go to the launch of the new Zara store and the new Mr Price concept store in the new section of Sandton City, which just by the way is really really impressive. They have really made an awesome effort to make it look, and I hate to use this word (urghh) international. You guys must take some time out to go have a look and of course to go spend some sweet cash.

Lets start with Zara – Ok guys listen to me when I tell you that before you go you should have a little chat with your wallet. Between the 2 of you, you should set some sort of limit because if you don’t you just might not be able to go home and face the person/pet you share your life with. Unless of course, you’ve bought them something too.

The clothes at Zara are really beautiful and the variety is amazing. I’m not going to lie I was quite overwhelmed by the colours and the sequins and the sheer volume of clothes, but I pulled myself together and went shopping (yes we got to shop last night).

I would say the prices are good, you’re looking at Country Road pricing, maybe a bit cheaper, but your options are way bigger in every department, jackets, skirts, tops, pants, shoes -you find a jacket you like and it’s more than likely available in 4 other colours. And the men’s section is also really well stocked with all sorts of man-looking goods. I bought Shane an awesome pair of skinny cargos, which I have been searching for for months everywhere else. And there is a huge kid’s section too, which is full of super cute stuff.

I’m really excited to have another option available to us, hopefully the success of this store will bring others like it and might even get other local clothing retailers to up their game in terms of quality and variety.

These are some things that I snapped up last night. Love the electric blue jacket (R600), that was the first thing I picked up. Bought some really pretty leather sandals (R500) and some cargo’s for Shane (R650) and a pair of pleated navy’s for me (R400).

I was also lucky enough to go to the Mr Price relaunch, which we also super impressive. Wow, they have really done an amazing job to make their store visually more exciting. I must say Mr Price Sandton City was one of my worst shops to go to, don’t know if you guys felt the same way. It was often disorganized and messy and things were always lying on the floor. I actually boycotted it all together, but now you have got to see the new space. If I was wearing a hat, it would of blown right off.

We got to see our friend Miss Amber Jones again, which is always a treat. Her new collection is up and for sale in the shop. There are such cute pieces available. I’m holding out for her yellow dress and denim shirt, which she said will be coming in the next while. Can’t wait!

Stubs and I were quick to get into the shopping and the whiskey come to think of it ha! Shopping and drinking was a new concept to me, but I really liked it and took to it like a fish in whiskey soaked water. I felt like an eccentric richie who has too much money and a fancy drinking problem.

Took these pieces home with me, but I think I need to go back to BOTH stores as well as all the other new shops that are opening up, some I haven’t even heard of before. So exciting! Happy shopping everyone xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I really love clothes from Zara. I think they’re cut well and they last well. But, here in the UK they are sometimes overpriced, so you just have to be selective!
